Harbor Alternate Living Association (HALA) is a non-profit organization that formed in 1980, with the goal of assisting adults with developmental disabilities by building their independent living skills and encouraging their integration into the greater community.
Over time, HALA has grown in its scope and mission and today offers a wide range of support services to the differently able community. The first Supportive Living services offered by HALA were Tenant Support and Alternative Living. Over the years the names may have changed but the core of what we do hasn't - inclusion of our clients in their own community while encouraging them to grow in their independence.
Support Living services for enrolled clients include but are not limited to:
Money Management Food and Nutrition
Home Management Relationships
Access to Health Care Basic Cognitive skills
Home Health Care Counseling
Personal Hygiene Safety skills
Shopping Self Advocacy
The scope and intensity of these services are tailored to meet the individual client’s needs and vary with abilities of each person.
The mission of Harbor Alternate Living Association is to provide a bridge for people with disabilities to move from seclusion to inclusion; from need to competence. Barriers which impede the progress of children and adults will be decreased by encouraging the community to be comfortable with human differences.
